On Thursday, May 16th, 2019 the Memorial High School Fine Arts Department will present Power, its fourth annual multi-disciplinary event that is free and open to the public.
This evening is the culmination of collaborations among various content-area teachers and students. Visitors will examine Power through the lens of visual art, music, theatre, film, dance, poetry, social sciences, natural sciences, and, new this year, small engines. Our official Power event logo, shown in the upper left, was designed by MHS student Ian Schultz.
The majority of Memorial’s first floor will be used for this unique school-based community event. Performances and art installations will occur in non-traditional spaces, such as dressing rooms, classrooms, and hallways, in addition to familiar locations such as the Little Theatre and the Commons. Student volunteers will be present throughout the building to guide visitors.
Thursday, May 16th 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Free and open to the public. Memorial High School, 2225 Keith St. Audience members can arrive at any time throughout the evening and still participate. Some performances and installations are scheduled while others are ongoing. Door 1, adjacent to the parking lot near the Old Abe eagle, will be a convenient entrance.
We welcome opportunities to host the press at our rehearsals and work sessions leading up to this event. Teachers and students are available for interviews. To connect with teachers and students involved, contact MHS Theatre teacher Amber Dernbach at firstname.lastname@example.org
