The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation’s Ag in the Classroom program will hold an informational meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, 7001 Gass Lake Road, Newton, five miles south of Manitowoc.

The meeting will cover upcoming events including 2019 Ag Day activities, essay contest, matching grants and summer trainings.

There also will be a presentation by Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center staff on opportunities for bringing schools, groups and others to the center. Anyone with an interest in agricultural education is welcome to attend the meeting.

The Ag in the Classroom program provides teachers and K-12 students with an understanding of how food is produced. The program seeks to work within existing curricula to provide basic information on agriculture.

Wisconsin’s Ag in the Classroom program is carried out by a network of local educators, volunteers and representatives from agricultural organizations and businesses.
