Growers seeking to comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act's Produce Safety Rule have a new educational resource with the Farmers Union Produce Safety Podcast, an educational series for fruit and vegetable farmers that takes the Produce Safety Alliance classroom learning into the field.

Hosted by the late Chris Blanchard of Purple Pitchfork, the podcast shares produce safety requirements and best practices — from harvesting to record-keeping — so growers can easily apply it to their operations. Each episode covers different topics and ranges from five to 20 minutes in length.

The Farmers Union Produce Safety Podcast is free and available for download on iTunes or at It was produced by Wisconsin Farmers Union, with support and funding from the National Farmers Union, Local Food Safety Collaborative and the Food and Drug Administration.
