Eau Claire resident Steven Johnson's landscape photography will be on display at "Southwestward Ho!," an art exhibit that runs Sunday, Dec. 2, through Jan. 28 at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, 400 Eau Claire St.
Johnson aims to create photographs that appeal to viewers on emotional, dramatic and aesthetic levels, according to a news release from the library. Instead of leaning toward the digital options available to photographers today, Johnson sticks to traditional landscape photography.
Johnson is a lifelong Wisconsin resident and moved to Eau Claire in 1973. He received his first camera as a Christmas gift in 1961 and still has it. His hobby quickly turned into his full-time profession.
"Southwestward Ho!" is located in the library's second floor gallery and can be viewed at any time during regular business hours.
An artist reception will be held in the gallery from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.
