"Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Magic Watch" cover

Menomonie author David Tank's "Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Magic Watch" will be released Saturday at Bookends on Main in Menomonie. He will hold additional programs the first week of December in Menomonie, Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire.

MENOMONIE — Local author David Tank of Menomonie ("Postcards from the Past") has released a middle-aged children's book just in time for the holidays.

"Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Magic Watch" is the second in Tank's Secret Santa time-traveling series, Tank said in a news release. It follows 7-year-old Abby and her older brother, Sam, to New York City in the Roaring Twenties. The two must work to return to the present.

The book picks up where "Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Stereoscope" left off.

An official book release will take place with a signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Bookends on Main, 214 Main St. E.

Tank will hold three family programs titled "Santa Claus Then and Now" in the first week of December. The programs will use stories, pictures and song to explore how Santa Claus has evolved over time.

Tank also will bring along Santa suits in various sizes, "so people can try them on and take their picture as Santa."

The programs will be held at:

  • 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Chippewa Falls Public Library, 105 W. Central St.
  • 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Menomonie Public Library, 600 Wolske Bay Road.
  • 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at The Local Store, 205 N. Dewey St., Eau Claire

All programs are free. More information can be found at secretsantamystery.com.
