Sean Chen, a Millsap Artist in Residence at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, will perform Saturday with the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra.

ECCO opening show nears

The Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra is launching its 2021-22 season with a performance co-produced by the Pablo Center at the Confluence at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The event, titled “Mozart and Haydn,” will be held in the Pablo Center’s RCU Theatre.

Conductor Frank Watkins will present Wolfgang Mozart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte” and Joseph Haydn’s “Symphony No. 100.” Guest artist and Van Cliburn laureate Sean Chen will perform Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466.”

The concert follows the International Fall Festival downtown and Pablo Center tours. Tickets are $29, or $5 for students, not including fees and taxes. They must be purchased through the Pablo Center (pablocenter.org).

Bands slated for Mousetrap

Three performers will take the stage Saturday at The Mousetrap Tavern, 311 S. Barstow St.

Matt Caflisch and his band will headline the bill at 11 p.m. He’ll be preceded by Todd Adams at 9 p.m. and Baby Grant Johnson at 10 p.m.

There is no cover charge.

Arts celebrated in Altoona

The River Prairie Celebration of Art will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at River Prairie Park in Altoona.

The event will feature live music, food trucks and up to 30 arts vendors. Admission is free.
