UW-RF concert series returns

RIVER FALLS — UW-River Falls’ Tuesday concert series begins at 7 p.m. June 19 in the Melvin Wall Amphitheatre, 710 Blue Stem Path. 

Americana duo Dusty Heart from Minneapolis will kick off this series, which will continue through Aug. 7. 

Grilled food, ice cream and beverages will be available for purchase at all concerts. The rain site for concerts is University Center, 501 Wild Rose Ave. 

Singer embarks on Midwest tour

Singer-songwriter and trombonist Natalie Cressman will be performing at 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, at The Plus, 208 S. Barstow St., as a stop on her “Love Me Blind” tour. 

Cressman will be performing songs off her recently released EP, “Traces,” her own project after doing numerous collaborations with Phish’s Trey Anastasio, the hip-hop combo Big Gigantic and Umphrey’s McGee.

She will be joined at The Plus by Space Monkey Mafia, a punk-rock band from the Twin Cities.  

Comedy show seeks actors

HUDSON — The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St., will hold auditions for the comedy “A Nice Family Gathering,” from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, June 18 and 19, at the arts center. 

The comedy is about the Lundeen family gathering on Thanksgiving Day after the death of the family’s patriarch, who comes back as a ghost with a mission. Four men and four women ages 20 to 80 are being sought to fill roles.

All auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsals will be held Sunday through Thursday evenings in August, with nine performances scheduled on weekends in September.
