HUDSON — Students in grades 10 through 12 are invited to audition for The Phipps Children's Theater's production of Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka Jr." from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, and Friday, Dec. 14, at Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St. 

The story follows the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir in this stage adaptation of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." 

The score includes such classics as "The Candy Man," "Oompa Loompa" and "I Want it Now." 

Twenty named roles are available as well as unnamed roles such as children, cooks and squirrels.

All actors will be asked to sing 32 measures of a prepared song and read from the script. Those auditioning should bring sheet music or a CD accompaniment and come prepared to learn a short dance combination. 

Actors also should bring a completed audition form, which can be found at, a current photo and a list of all rehearsal conflicts.

Rehearsals begin Jan. 3, with 12 performances scheduled Feb. 15 to March 3. 

There will be a $75 fee for each cast member. Scholarships are available if needed.
