CHIPPEWA FALLS - A statewide crime alert has been issued for a Chippewa Falls woman who has been missing since June.
Shannah M. Boiteau, 23, was last seen at 3 p.m. June 22 when she ran away from a vehicle being driven by her boyfriend near Interstate 94 and Highway 74 in St. Cloud, Minn.
The statewide alert was issued “as Shannah was last seen in St. Cloud, Minn., on I-94 and has been known to hitchhike in the past,” according to the alert, issued Thursday by the state Department of Justice at the request of the Chippewa Falls Police Department.
The St. Cloud Times (http://goo.gl/cOzDyz) reported June 30 that a witness saw a distraught woman in a bikini top who matched Boiteau’s description enter the woods near an intersection. The witness said a maroon Prius had been following the distraught woman before she entered the woods. The St. Cloud Police Department conducted a search of the area but did not find the woman or the driver of the Prius, according to the St. Cloud Times.
“We do not have any leads,” said Sgt. Ryan Douglas of the Chippewa Falls Police Department, noting attempts to locate Boiteau are nationwide. “ ... If someone's heard from her, they're not telling us. We're kind of at a dead end until we hear something."
The alert said Boiteau does not know anyone in the St. Cloud area, does not have a cell phone and had possibly been using drugs. There is a warrant out for her arrest, Douglas said. Boiteau has been on probation since pleading no contest to a felony chage of maintaining a drug trafficking place in December 2014.
Boiteau is 5 feet 7 inches tall, 135 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen she was wearing a tan tank top, black leggings and had no shoes. She has a tattoo of the name Milli behind her right ear and two sparrows on her hips.
Anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts should contact Sgt. Deb Brettingen at 715-723-4424, or through the Chippewa Falls Police Department’s Facebook page.
