On Wednesday, Rebecca Cooke was joined by Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wilker in celebration of her recent victory in the Democratic primaries. With the general election in November, Cooke will face against incumbent Derrick Van Orden (R-Prairie Du Chien) for a seat in the Third Congressional District. “Last night, voters spoke,” said Wikler. “Today, we woke up in a world where Rebecca Cooke is the Democratic nominee for the United States Congress, and Democrats are thrilled.”

EAU CLAIRE — After finishing as runner-up in 2022, Rebecca Cooke got over the finish line in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, defeating challengers Katrina Shankland and Eric Wilson to become the party’s nominee for the Third Congressional District.

Cooke, an Eau Claire businesswoman, received an unofficial final total of 42,220 votes (50.0%), finishing ahead of State Rep. Shankland, D-Stevens Point, who received 34,763 votes (42.1%). Wilson finished third with 7,411 votes (8.8%.)
