Eau Claire police are investigating circumstances surrounding a deceased man found Thursday evening at a residence on the city’s east side.
Police continued interviewing witnesses and were processing the crime scene on Friday morning on the 2600 block of Seymour Road.
“The Eau Claire Police Department is actively investigation the circumstances of his death,” deputy chief Matt Rokus said.
Rokus referred specifically to the man as the “decedent” because police had not yet determined if he was the victim of a crime.
No one had been arrested for the man’s death as of late Friday morning, police said.
An autopsy will be conducted Friday afternoon in Madison to confirm the man’s identity and determine cause of death.
Police expect to release the man’s identity and more information about his death Monday, Rokus said.
Police discovered the body in a residence, which they had gone to investigate a separate matter that had occurred there on Thursday.
Rokus gave the department’s assurance that this incident does not pose a threat to Eau Claire’s overall population.
“We’re confident there is no danger to the public,” he said.
