The intracity matchup features two teams looking to turn things around. The Old Abes need to win out and get help to still have a shot at the top of the Big Rivers after falling to River Falls 24-17 last week, their second loss in three weeks. North, coming off a 34-13 defeat against Rice Lake, is still looking for its first win.
Regis (6-0, 5-0) at Colby (5-1, 5-0), 7 p.m. Friday
The Cloverbelt championship will likely come down to this bout of teams undefeated in conference. The Ramblers, also undefeated overall, are coming off a 45-6 win against Durand, while Colby last beat Spencer/Columbus 28-22. Regis won last year's matchup 35-7.
Rice Lake (1-5, 1-3) at Hudson (2-4, 2-2), 7 p.m. Friday
Hudson dropped to .500 in the Big Rivers last week with a 22-14 loss to Menomonie but has still won two of three after a rough start. Rice Lake earned its first victory of the season last week, 34-13 against Eau Claire North. Hudson won last year's meeting 34-18.
Menomonie (6-0, 4-0) at Superior (4-2, 3-1), 7 p.m. Friday
The top two teams in the Big Rivers in overall record, and two separated by one game in the BRC standings, square off up north. Menomonie is coming off a 22-14 win against Hudson, while Superior bested Chippewa Falls 36-14 last week. Menomonie won last year's meeting 17-6.
Chippewa Falls (1-5, 1-3) at River Falls (4-2, 3-1), 7 p.m. Friday
River Falls, coming off a 24-17 victory against Eau Claire Memorial, looks to stay on pace with the rest of the top of the BRC. The Wildcats face Chippewa Falls, which fell 36-14 to Superior last week. River Falls won last year's meeting 34-21.
Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah (3-3, 3-3) at McDonell (2-3), 6 p.m. Friday
The Macks look to rebound from a 52-18 loss to state-power Phillips when they host a Resorters squad that's won four of the last five. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah's three-game win streak was ended last Friday with a 28-14 loss to Newman Catholic. These teams have not met since McDonell went to 8-man football.
Spencer/Columbus (3-3, 3-2) at Cadott (3-3, 3-3), 7 p.m. Friday
Two teams looking to move above .500 meet in a battle of Cloverbelt foes. Spencer/Columbus fell to Colby last week, 28-22, while Cadott rolled by Fall Creek 49-9. Spencer/Columbus won last year's meeting 51-0.
Fall Creek (0-6) at Glenwood City (0-6), 7 p.m. Friday
One of these teams will earn their first victory of the season in this non-conference battle. Fall Creek is coming off a 49-9 loss to Cadott, while the Hilltoppers fell to Mondovi 61-0. The Crickets won last year's meeting 29-15.
Stanley-Boyd (3-3, 2-3) at Neillsville/Granton (2-4, 1-4), 7 p.m. Friday
The Orioles look to bounce back from a 44-28 loss to Osseo-Fairchild with a win against a Neillsville/Granton team riding a three-game losing streak. N/G's last loss game to Altoona, 28-14. Stanley-Boyd won last year's matchup 48-23.
Altoona (2-4, 2-4) at Osseo-Fairchild (3-3, 3-2), 7 p.m. Friday
The Rails look to build off a 28-14 win against Neillsville/Granton, while Osseo-Fairchild is trying to stay in third in the Cloverbelt behind Regis and Colby. The Thunder are coming off a 44-28 victory against Stanley-Boyd. Osseo-Fairchild won last year's meeting 30-6.
Owen-Withee (0-6, 0-4) at Thorp (2-4, 1-3), 7 p.m. Friday
The Cardinals, who fell 27-0 to Gilman last week, match up with an Owen-Withee team that's given up at least 36 points in every game. The Blackhawks' last loss game against Loyal by a 46-12 score, but they did beat Thorp last year 53-14.
Durand (2-4, 1-2) at Colfax (1-5, 1-2), 7 p.m. Friday
Durand, coming off a 45-6 loss to Regis, has lost two in a row including a Dunn-St. Croix matchup with Elk Mound. Colfax was the Mounders most recent victim, a 49-0 blowout last week. Durand won last year's meeting 44-6.
Boyceville (2-4, 1-3) at Mondovi (6-0, 3-0), Friday 7 p.m.
Mondovi continued its season-long shutout streak last week with a 61-0 win against Glenwood City. Boyceville is coming off a 41-0 loss to the other top team in the Dunn-St. Croix, Spring Valley. The Buffaloes won last year's matchup in a shootout, 67-38.
Pepin/Alma (3-3, 3-1) at Augusta (5-1, 3-1), 7 p.m. Friday
Augusta, riding a three-game win streak, bested Whitehall 30-12 last week. Pepin/Alma has also won three straight, last besting Eleva-Strum 14-8. These teams have not met in recent years.
Independence/Gilmanton (0-6, 0-4) at Eleva-Strum (3-3, 2-2), 7 p.m. Friday
The Cardinals look to move back above .500 both overall and in the Dairyland with a win against an Independence/Gilmanton squad looking for its first triumph. Eleva-Strum fell 14-8 last week to Pepin/Alma, while Independence/Gilmanton lost 23-6 to Cochrane-Fountain City. E-S won last year's meeting 28-14.
Bloomer (5-1, 5-1) at Barron (1-5, 1-5), 7 p.m. Friday
Bloomer suffered a tough blow last week, falling 34-28 in overtime to Cumberland to fall back into a tie for second in the Heart O' North with the Beavers. Barron earned its first win of the year last year with a 41-0 showing against Cameron. The Blackhawks won last year's meeting 40-0.
Chetek-Weyerhaeuser (2-4, 2-4) at Cumberland (5-1, 5-1), 7 p.m. Friday
Cumberland moved into a tie for second in the Heart O' North with Bloomer thanks to a 34-28 overtime win against the Blackhawks last week. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser narrowly edged Ladysmith 28-26. Cumberland won last year's meeting 64-26.
