A 39-year-old Rice Lake man is in jail on charges stemming from a Sunday evening domestic incident involving a gun followed by a brief highway pursuit.

Steven Anderson was booked in the Barron County Jail on charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, armed while intoxicated, battery, domestic abuse, fleeing an officer and second-offense drunken driving.

According to a Barron County sheriff's office news release, a woman called 911 at 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, stating she'd just gotten out of a car on U.S. 53 after her husband had hit her, pointed a gun at her and fired off several rounds after she got out.

Law enforcement officers picked up the woman and then located Anderson's vehicle. A Rice Lake police officer attempted to stop Anderson's car, but he kept driving for about a mile before finally pulling to the shoulder on U.S. 53, according to the news release.

Anderson was arrested without further incident. Two firearms were found in the vehicle.
