Several suspects are being sought in connection with an early Wednesday break-in at an Eau Claire area convenience store.

According to the Eau Claire County sheriff's office:

The break-in occurred at 4:33 a.m. at Circle C, 1504 N. Clairemont Ave.

A store manager inside the business heard glass breaking just as she was preparing to open for the day.

The manager locked herself in a back room and called 911.

Deputies responded within four minutes of the call, but the suspects had already fled on foot.

"The individuals apparently figured out somebody was inside the store," Sheriff Ron Cramer said.

"We're checking to see if anything was taken, and we're also viewing video from the store and other businesses to see if we can identify the suspects," he said.

The store manager was not injured during the break-in.

Shortly before this call, the Eau Claire Police Department responded to a burglary alarm at 4:21 a.m. at Dairy Queen, 3057 N. Hastings Way.

When officers arrived, they found the drive-through window had been broken, Deputy Chief Matt Rokus said. Police believe a suspect or suspects entered the building, but it appears nothing was taken.

The incident remains under investigation.
