City of Eau Claire

A park on Eau Claire's north side will have its warming center open for extended hours today, but shelters at other parks will be closed.

With area schools closed today, Pinehurst Park, 3523 Delbert Road, will be open from noon to 9 p.m. so children can go sledding and participate in other winter activities.

However, six other warming centers at parks that host ice rinks are closed today. City crews are expected to clear snow off ice rinks at Boyd, Sam Davey, Demmler, Putnam Heights, Roosevelt and Oakwood Hills parks so their warming centers can open at 4 p.m. Friday.

People who still do want to venture out for ice skating can skate for free from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hobbs Ice Arena, 915 Menomonie St., according to a city news release.
