An unidentified woman's body was pulled out of the Mississippi River at mid-day Tuesday in Pierce County.
A fisherman who spotted the body floating in the river near mile marker 795 in the town of Trenton called the Pierce County sheriff's office at about 12:20 p.m., according to a news release.
Authorities recovered the body, and the county medical examiner pronounced the woman deceased.
The incident remains under investigation.
The Pierce County sheriff's office was aided in the recovery by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Red Wing Ambulance Service and deputies from the Goodhue County sheriff's office in Minnesota.
