DURAND — A Durand student has been detained after bringing two unloaded guns Thursday on school grounds.

According to a statement from the Durand-Arkansaw school district and Durand Police Department:

A student notified the Durand Middle/High School principal on Thursday that a student was in possession of guns on school property. The student's locker was searched, and two unloaded guns were recovered.

The student was detained and questioned. The student had no intent to cause harm at the school and did not have any ammunition.

The student has been referred to the Pepin County Human Services Department.
