Live it, love it, celebrate it: water.
Starting today, the 42nd annual Pure Water Days in Chippewa Falls will give locals something fun to do this weekend, this year with an “Under the Sea” theme.
With community events including a daily petting zoo, Leinenkugel Brewing Co. tours and an ongoing library book sale, there are everyday staples of the celebration to keep the whole family entertained.
Things really start to bubble on Saturday morning with the Pure Water Days races at 7:30 a.m. Participants can choose a half-marathon, 4-mile, 1-mile, 2-mile fit walk or a 200-meter dash. Following the races is another athletic activity: the second annual pickleball tournament that runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants must be 18 or older to play, and the cost to enter is $30 per person.
A crowd favorite for most celebrations, the event’s parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the corner of North Bridge and Cedar Streets. This year, vintage cars will follow behind the floats to a classic car show that will run from 2 to 6 p.m.
Also at 2 p.m. Saturday is the beginning of RiverFest, which will include kids’ and adults’ games, live music and performances, food trucks and a beer tent, inflatables, balloon animals and fireworks at dusk. All this will take place in Allen Park, 1 S. Bridge St.
Sunday will include demonstrations and activities with Boy and Cub Scout troops from 1-4 p.m. at the Lafayette Parks & Rec Field. Later in the day is a skateboard contest that serves as a fundraiser to benefit Chippewa Skate Park. The contest runs from 4-8 p.m. at the skate park and costs $5 to enter.
