Wintry participation and slippery roads couldn’t keep runners and walkers from participating in the eighth annual Run for the Lights on Saturday at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls.

Proceeds from the 5-kilometer and 1-mile races benefit the park’s Christmas Village. The village, which is open through Jan. 1, features life-size Christmas scenes, historical replicas and over 60,000 lights.

The display can be seen from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily; for more information go to tinyurl.com/yag44e7g.
