HOLIDAY CONCERT: Warren Petryk of The Memories is presenting a holiday concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St.

Tickets cost $10 at the door, and proceeds benefit Bob’s House for Dogs, a foster and adoption center for homeless disabled and senior dogs south of Eau Claire.

Concertgoers who bring an item from Bob’s House’s wish list — grain-free canned and dry dog food and treats, pill pockets, laundry soap, hand soap, Mr. Clean, paper towels, stamps or gas and pet store gift cards — will be entered into a raffle for a gift card.

KIDS NIGHT OUT: UW-Stout student athletes will host Kids Night Out, the first one for the 2018-19 school year, from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sports and Fitness Center, 220 13th Ave. East, Menomonie.

Area children in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited.

More than 50 Blue Devil student athletes will lead and interact with children in games and activities including dodgeball, basketball, swimming, whiffleball, kickball, a movie, arts and crafts, Frisbee and on the walking-running track.

The cost is $10 per child for the first two children in the family and $5 per child after that. Concessions will be available but are not included in the cost.

Parents need not be present but can stay if they choose. No child will be allowed to leave until picked up by a parent or guardian. A first responder will be present.

Pre-register for quick drop off, but walk-ins are welcome.

The event is sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

CHRISTMAS ON THE FARM: The Jackson County Farm Bureau is hosting “Christmas on the Farm” from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Garden Valley Farmstead, N9958 N. Branch Road, Hixton.

The event includes pictures with Santa, a cookie contest, horse wagon rides, story time, and grilled cheese sandwiches and homemade hot chocolate.

Free-will donations will be accepted to benefit the family of Matt Rosenberg.

BOOK SALE: The Friends of the Library will hold a Holiday Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, and Wednesday, Dec. 12, in the Eau Claire Room of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, 400 Eau Claire St.
