An Eau Claire man will spend six months in jail for his fifth drunken driving conviction since 2006.

Caleb T. Smith, 36, 2317 E. Lexington Blvd., pleaded guilty recently in Eau Claire County Court to a felony count of fifth-offense drunken driving.

Judge Emily Long placed Smith on three years of probation, fined him $3,375 and revoked his driver's license for three years.

As conditions of probation, Smith cannot enter taverns and must maintain absolute sobriety.

According to court records:

Smith was arrested for drunken driving Nov. 30 following a hit-and-run crash on South Hastings Way. His blood-alcohol content was 0.228.

Smith was previously convicted of drunken driving in November 2006 in Chippewa County and in February 2008, May 2011 and December 2012 in Eau Claire County.
