An Eau Claire man will spend 18 months in prison for his sixth drunken driving-related conviction since 1996.
Ronald G. Newton, 55, was found guilty recently in Eau Claire County Court of a felony count of sixth-offense operating with a prohibited blood alcohol content and a misdemeanor count of operating after revocation.
Judge Michael Schumacher ordered Newton to spend two years on extended supervision following his release from prison.
Newton was fined $518. As conditions of supervision, Newton cannot drink alcohol or enter taverns.
According to court records:
Newton was arrested June 9 following a traffic crash in the town of Washington. His blood alcohol content was 0.156.
Newton was previously convicted of drunken driving in April 1996 in Shawano County, and in October 2017 and twice in May 2018 in Eau Claire County.
