MENOMONIE — A Hayward man was arrested early Saturday morning in Dunn County for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, third offense, with a child in the vehicle under 16.

David L. Boswell, 31, was stopped at about 2:15 a.m. on Highway 12/29 near 730th Street by a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper who observed the vehicle deviating from its lane.

According to a State Patrol news release:

Boswell showed signs of impairment and admitted using illegal narcotics. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Boswell was operating a motor vehicle while impaired, with this being his third offense. There was also a 2-year-old child passenger in the vehicle.

Boswell was arrested and taken to a local hospital for a blood test and then to the Dunn County Jail.

In addition to the OWI charge, he is being charged with operating while revoked, carrying a concealed weapon, child safety seat violation, misdemeanor bail jumping and deviation from designated traffic lane.

The child was turned over to the Dunn County Department of Human Services.
