UW System President Ray Cross has appointed UW-Stout Provost Patrick Guilfoile to serve as interim chancellor when the nationwide search is being conducted for a new chancellor to replace Bob Meyer, who announced last week he planned to retire on Aug. 18.
Meyer announced the appointment in a memo to university staff.
Guilfoile has served as UW-Stout’s provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs since July 2015. He has extensive leadership experience in higher education, has been published in multiple peer-reviewed publications and has served on myriad committees in the university and community.
“The UW System is excited that Dr. Guilfoile has agreed to serve as interim chancellor at UW-Stout,” Cross said in a news release. “Dr. Guilfoile has served with great distinction as provost, and we are confident that UW-Stout will be in good hands under his leadership and direction while we search for a new chancellor.”
Meyer also announced that Glendali Rodriguez, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, will take over as interim provost when Guilfoile becomes interim chancellor.
Rodriguez, who received a master's degree in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree from Yale University, joined UW-Stout in 2005 and taught courses in the areas of construction management, interior design and technology education before becoming a full-time administrator in January 2014.
