Residents of a mobile home on Eau Claire's south side were displaced Friday afternoon due to a fire.

The Red Cross provided assistance to occupants of the home at 2425 John St. after they safely evacuated themselves due to the fire.

Firefighters received at 1:26 p.m. and arrived on scene to see smoke and fire coming from the trailer home, according to an Eau Claire Fire Department news release.

The residents were already out, and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.

The trailer is owned by occupant Jessa Peterson, according to the city.

The fire, which did an estimated $25,000 worth of damage to the home, remains under investigation.
