An Eau Claire woman is accused of passing a fake $20 bill at an Eau Claire restaurant.

Nicole L. Deveau, 29, 3626 Seymour Road, is charged in Eau Claire County Court with a felony count of uttering a forgery, two felony counts of bail jumping and a misdemeanor count of theft.

A $500 signature bond was set for Deveau, who returns to court July 9. As a condition of bond, Deveau cannot have contact with Burger King restaurants.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police were called to Burger King on South Hastings Way June 7 on a report of a woman who paid for food with a fake $20 bill.

Police were told the woman, later identified as Deveau, was still in the restaurant.

The bill had Chinese writing on both sides.

Deveau told police she got the bill from a friend and didn’t know it was fake. She wouldn’t provide the name of the friend.

Deveau was free on bond for pending 2017 and 2018 criminal cases in Eau Claire County.
