MENOMONIE — A UW-Stout student has been reported safe on Thursday evening, hours after the university had sent a bulletin declaring him missing.
Law enforcement officers in Minnesota responded to the university police's news release that sought information on freshman Devon Jenkins-Joshua.
Doug Mell, UW-Stout's executive director of communications and external relations, said the university is working to reunite the 23-year-old student with family from the Milwaukee area.
The university sought the public's help to find Jenkins-Joshua on Thursday afternoon because he had not been seen or heard from since very early on Tuesday. He had been absent from classes and did not contact family.
Campus police officers were requested to do a welfare check on him early Wednesday. They found most his belongings were still at his dorm room, but his cellphone was inactive and neither he or his car could be found on campus.
