MENOMONIE — Authorities have identified the man who died after a crash involving a semitractor trailer and a sport-utility vehicle Thursday afternoon in the Dunn County town of Red Cedar.

Killed in the crash was Kenneth R. Candelaria, 58, of Menomonie, who was driving the SUV. The driver of the semi, Peter L. Stoyancheff, 64, of Las Vegas, was not injured, according to the Dunn County sheriff's office.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office:

The department received report of a crash at the intersection of U.S. 12 and Highway B at about 3:07 p.m. Thursday.

Subsequent investigation showed an SUV that was traveling south on Highway B entered the intersection and collided with the semi, which was traveling west on U.S. 12.

Due to the SUV’s significant damage, the driver was extricated from the vehicle by personnel from the Menomonie Fire Department and transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie. He was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
