SHELL LAKE — A 38-year-old Menomonie woman convicted of a felony count of income tax fraud was ordered Tuesday in Washburn County Court to pay $19,003 in restitution.
Danielle E. Beauvais, E4405 476th Ave., who pleaded no contest and was found guilty of the charge, had three identical counts, as well as a felony count of obtaining a refund with fraudulent intent, dismissed.
Beauvais, convicted of filing a false state income tax return in 2010, was also sentenced to three years of probation.
According to the criminal complaint, Beauvais filed state income tax returns for years 2009-2013 on which she reported income tax withholding from her employer totaling $20,859. However, according to her employer’s records, no money was withheld from her paycheck for income taxes. Beauvais submitted a total of $22,379 in fraudulent taxes and received a total of $6,426 in refunds as a result of filing the fraudulent income tax returns.
