An Eau Claire man is accused of trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl.
The girl he was communicating with was actually an undercover police officer.
Adam N. Lynch, 24, 1263½ Graham Ave., was charged Thursday in Eau Claire County Court with felony counts of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, attempted child enticement and attempted sexual assault of a child under age 16.
A $5,000 signature bond was set for Lynch, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with children.
Lynch returns to court Feb. 19.
According to the criminal complaint:
Lynch on April 25 messaged a Facebook account used by undercover law enforcement that specifically highlights the profile of a 13-year-old girl who lives in Eau Claire.
The messaging stopped until Dec. 13, when Lynch asked for a photo.
An undercover police officer sent Lynch a photo of a 13-year-old girl.
Lynch sent a photo of himself and said they should hang out but that she shouldn’t tell anyone.
Lynch provided his phone number and then switched over to text messaging on Jan. 2.
The text messages between then and Monday became sexual in nature.
During this time, Lynch sent what he thought was a 13-year-old girl multiple pictures of himself, including nude photos and a video of his genitals.
On Monday, Lynch mentioned he was going to buy condoms.
On Tuesday, Lynch was arrested when he arrived at the designated meeting spot.
Lynch told police he was desperate and would see anyone who was willing to talk to him and give him comfort.
He acknowledged the girl he believed he was communicating with was 13 years old.
Lynch initially denied he planned to have sex with the girl. But he added that if she made a move, he probably would have had sex with her.
Lynch admitted he went to a drugstore the previous day to buy condoms.
If convicted of all three charges, Lynch could be sentenced to up to 65 years in prison.
