A Fall Creek man is accused of twice slapping a deputy’s buttocks during a Halloween party at an Augusta tavern.
Cesar J. Villegas, 30, was charged Thursday in Eau Claire County Court with misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint:
An Augusta police officer requested assistance from the Eau Claire County sheriff’s office for a Halloween party at 11:20 p.m. Oct. 27 at Mulligan’s Bar in Augusta.
A deputy entered through the back door. As he walked up the steps, he heard several people say, “Watch out, the cops are here.”
Another person jokingly said, “Are you guys strippers?”
As he walked past the center of the bar, the deputy felt someone slap his buttocks.
The deputy turned around and saw a man, later identified as Villegas, quickly walk away.
The deputy yelled for Villegas to stop it. Villegas turned to look at the deputy, who went back to complete the tavern check.
A few seconds later, the deputy again felt someone slap his buttocks. This time it was hard enough to cause the deputy to be pushed into the person standing in front of him.
The deputy turned around to see Villegas walk away from him.
The deputy made contact with Villegas and arrested him.
Villegas tried to pull away from the deputy before a second deputy assisted with the arrest.
Villegas repeatedly tried to pull away from the deputies as he was led outside.
Many tavern patrons were outside repeatedly telling Villegas to stop and calm down.
As he was being searched, Villegas threatened to hit the deputies if he ever saw them out of uniform.
