Anton Hiillebrand

Anton (Tony) Hillebrand was born October 4, 1941, in Joliet, Illinois, and passed away on March 10, 2019, at Cornell Health Services.

He leaves behind a wife of 56 years, Lorraine (Adrian); his daughter, Cathy (Paul) Salm and his son, Joe (Elizabeth) Hillebrand; grandchildren, Joe (Erin) Salm, Matthew (Regan) Salm, John (Megan) Salm, Jacob Hillebrand and Anna Hillebrand; his sister, Joanne Smith, his brother-in-law Lyle (Darlene) Adrian, sister-in-law, Kate (Lloyd) Adrian and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Louise Hillebrand; parents-in-law Robert and Helen Adrian and his brothers-in-law Robert J. Smith and Robert Adrian Jr.

Tony graduated from Cornell High School Class of 1959. He worked for Thorp Finance for two years and returned to his family farm in Cornell when his father broke his leg. Tony married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Adrian on October 27, 1962. He then dedicated his life to his family and farm.

Tony was a member of Wisconsin Farm Bureau and served on the Cornell School District Board of Education for twelve years. He helped to create the first snowmobile trails in Chippewa County, played ball with the Huron Aids and enjoyed playing cards with lifetime friends and family. After retirement, he spent many afternoons in Royce’s Heartland Auto and visiting area casinos with Lyle and Darlene.

Tony was a sports enthusiast rooting on the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell, WI.

Inurnment at the Cornell Cemetery will take place at a later date.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the Cornell Health Services’ staff for the wonderful kindness and care in the last year of his life.
