Darlene Claflin

Darlene Ann Claflin, 77, of Fairchild, WI passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born on May 11, 1941, to Floyd and Evelyn (Sveum) Severson in Requa, WI.

Darlene “Emma” married Dennis Claflin in May 27, 1961.

Heaven gained an angel with an attitude; Emma was a good natured, kind soul who was always willing to lend a hand to friends or strangers alike. She was also willing to use her humor and wit to provide advice or some hard truths to those she thought needed it. Emma always had something to say, told you exactly what she thought, and always had some great one-line zingers. Her large circle of friends and family were treated to a birthday phone call with her rendition of an off-key Happy Birthday to you, those will be sorely missed by all. During Emma’s life she worked the family farm in Requa that she was born and raised on, then as a secretary for Sundstrand in Rockford, Illinois. Later, upon moving back to Wisconsin, she was employed for many years as a bartender at Blooms Tavern, and what is now Trails End. Up until retiring she worked as a secretary for Osseo Plumbing and an attendant at Kwik Trip in Osseo. Although sassy, she had a big heart and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and playing with her grand and great-grandchildren. Emma was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Craig S. Olson Post 8514 in Osseo, where she served as secretary for many years.

She is survived by her children, David (Alice) Claflin, Debbie (Jeff Thoma) Schmidt; Step-children, Richard (Sally) Claflin, Dayle (Ann) Claflin, Mary (Scott) Schoettle; special Son Jim “Squirrel” (Sherri) McBride; Brother Jimmy (Mary) Severson; Sister Rosalyn Geisdorf; Sister-in-law, Marian Severson; Grandchildren, Sarah (Dave) Sharp, Vincent Claflin, Jamie (Ethan) Schooley, Brandon Claflin, Shannon Claflin, Angie (Ben) Zirngibl; Great grandchildren, Shane, Skye, Emily, Savannah, Sierra, LaRainne, Alison, and Abigail. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Emma is preceded by her husband Dennis Claflin; parents Floyd (Evelyn) Severson; Brother Robert Severson; Mother and Father in-law Dick and Mary Claflin; Sister’s-in-law, Marlene and Faye; Brother-in-law Roger Claflin.

Please keep the military, their families and those who are sick or have lost loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Pray for world peace, and God bless America.
