Dennis Eugene Blodgett died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at his daughter, Jayne, and son-in-law, Chris’s (Ramey), home in Greeley, CO.
Born in Eleva, WI, to Roy and Inga Blodgett in 1938, Dennis grew up a farm kid. After attending a one-room school through 8th grade, he attended Eau Claire Senior High School, graduating in 1956. One year later, he married his high school sweetheart Joan Marie Jones (d. 1990). The two lived in Eau Claire until Dennis was drafted in 1961. His time in the Army led him to Colorado, Georgia, and the Philippines. Following his discharge in 1963, Dennis returned to Eau Claire, where he lived until moving to Colorado in early 2018.
Described by many as “a character” and “one of a kind,” he lived life on his own terms. He had a generous spirit, a quirky fashion sense, and a contrarian view of the world. He enjoyed researching family genealogy, playing cards, reading mysteries and westerns, and traveling the Southwest in his RV.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Holton and her husband, Bill, of Woodbury, MN, and their two children, Dan and Claire; and son Jim Blodgett and his wife, Ruth, of Madison, WI, and their son, Taylor; and daughter Jayne Blodgett and her husband, Chris Ramey of Greeley.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, from 1-4pm at the Pleasant Valley Community Center, S10414 Cty Rd I, Eleva, WI 54738
