Franklin G. Edwards, 84, of Eau Claire, WI, died Saturday, December 22, 2018, at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Walter & Emily Edwards. He proudly served in the Army & Army Reserves. He attended the UW-Milwaukee and graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending college, he worked as a Bridge Tender for the City of Milwaukee. After graduating, he started his career in Sales in Wausau, WI. He worked as a Sales Manager for 21 years at Northwest Enterprises in Eau Claire. He finished his career as a Bus Driver for the City of Eau Claire, working there for 9 years.
Franklin was a loving, affectionate, honorable, devoted quick-witted role model and mentor to all who knew him. He was an excellent storyteller and historian. He was hardworking and highly respected. He was a fixer of all things broken, using his engineering skills in everyday life to do repairs. Grand Teton National Park was his favorite place and he traveled extensively with his family during his adventurous life. He was a spiritual man, finding peace in nature and loved all creatures great and small. He was an inspiration to so many who were lucky enough to be a part of his positive thoughts and actions. He had completed his “bucket list”, bringing us all comfort and joy.
He is survived by his adored wife of 50 years, Barbara; his daughter, Allison (Sebastian); his stepsons, Paul (Awilda), David (Pam) and James; his grandchildren, Kristi, Jessica and Colin; many great-grandchildren; his sisters, Adrienne & Jeanne (John); brother, James; sisters-in-law, Nancy & Kate; many cherished nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and his faithful dog Shadow, his best buddy.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, chaplains and staff of various departments at Sacred Heart Hospital for their excellent care and compassion for Franklin.
