Gerald “Jerry” Hoehl, 78, of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2019. Though our hearts may grieve, we rejoice that he has reached his heavenly home.
Jerry was born in St. Anna, WI to Claude and Rose (Umfeehrer) Hoehl on March 9, 1940. He graduated from Kiel High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in math from UW-Oshkosh. He married Sharon Hass on August 3, 1963 in New Holstein, WI. After marriage, they lived in West Bend, WI where Jerry worked for West Bend Mutual Insurance Company. After the birth of their first daughter, Jerry was transferred to Eau Claire, WI, where he worked as a territory manager for 30 years. He went on to sell insurance for Magadance-Parrott Insurance.
Jerry was a dedicated member of St. Olaf Parish and a past president of the men’s club. He volunteered his time as a Mass server and usher. Over the last two decades, he devoted many Friday nights to working at the fish fry, and it was there he spent the last few hours of his life. An avid fisherman, Jerry could often be found out on the lake, and he took pleasure in the north woods, hunting with his friends. He especially enjoyed playing cribbage with his grandchildren and watching his grandson play hockey and baseball. Jerry was an active member of the Moose Lodge and participated in their couples bowling league, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; two daughters, Kim (Andrew) Krieg and Kelly Bowe; three grandchildren: Hayden Bowe, Emma and Victor Krieg.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his only sister, Joyce, and her husband, Charles Polster; son-in-law Darin Bowe.
