James A. Bloom, 74, of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire surrounded by his family.
He was born March 21, 1944, in Rice Lake, WI, to Almeda Bloom. James graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1962. Early during the time of being a 35+ year employee of Uniroyal, he also served in the National Guard.
James married Gloria Burns on December 5, 1964, in Eau Claire WI. In 1967, they moved to the Town of Union where they purchased a parcel of land. There he built their home, farm, and shop with his own two hands. They lovingly raised their family, horses and hunting dogs together.
James enjoyed caring for his family, hunting dogs and horses. Later in life he became a blacksmith and a farrier. He, along with his wife, was an avid hunter and sportsperson.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria of 53 years; two children, Kris (Chris) Hansen of Wilson WI, Jeff (Brenda) Bloom of Milton, WI; three beautiful grandchildren, Julia, Lauren and Eden Bloom; in-laws, Robert (Lynn) Burns of Eau Claire, Nancy (Ronald) Kaeding of Elk Mound, WI; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Virgil Burns.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, December 7, 2018, from 3-6:30 p.m. at Chippewa Valley Cremation Services-Celebration of Life Center, 1717 Devney Drive, Altoona, WI (right behind Charter Spectrum). A Celebration of his life will begin at 6:30 p.m.
