Joan Shilts

Joan L. Shilts, 83, of the Chippewa County, WI, Town of Edson, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 9th, 2018, at the Augusta Area Home in Augusta, WI.

Joan was born on May 11th, 1935, the daughter of Wes and Beaulah Boots (Marcellis) Johnson.

Joan grew up in the Augusta area, she attended and graduated from Augusta High School.

Joan Johnson married Kenneth Shilts on April 25th, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Town of Edson, following marriage they lived and farmed in the Town of Edson until retiring in 1993. Joan was the Treasurer for the Town of Edson for 25 years and also worked at various jobs in the area.

She was a lifetime member of St. Frances Circle.

She enjoyed being with family, attending Mass daily, having breakfast with the Boyd Mafia, thrift sales, bingo, watching and feeding birds and she would never turn down a cup of coffee

Joan is survived by her Children, Son-Dave Shilts of Boyd, WI, Daughters-Ann (Tom) Licht of Boyd, Mary (Jim) Begley of Cadott, WI, Carol (Kevin) Fredrickson of Champlin, MN, and Brenda (Mark) Mattison of Spring Valley, WI; 16 Grandchildren; 21 Great-Grandchildren; Sister-Susan (Lee) Luton of OR, Sister in law-Lorraine Spaeth of Cadott, Brother in law-Arky Bears of WY and also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband-Kenneth Shilts on December 20th, 2013, Siblings-Nancy Bears, Wes Snooks Johnson, Jr. and Jim Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 14th, 2018, at St.Josephs Catholic Church in Boyd, WI, with Father William Felix officiating.

Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Town of Edson.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM Rosary on Thursday, December 13th, 2018, at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, WI, and also Friday morning from 11:00-12:00 at the Church.
