Karen Halvorson-Falk

Karen Marie Halvorson-Falk, 66, of Colfax, WI, passed away unexpectedly at home from massive pulmonary embolisms on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

She was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 3, 1952 to Harry and Marty Halvorson. She attended Patrick Henry High in North Minneapolis, MN and graduated in 1970. She enjoyed the city life until the late 70s when she moved to Wisconsin and worked as a secretary for Dunn County Juvenile Court. In 1983, she continued her education at UW Stout, her dad’s alma mater. In December 1987, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Distributive Education with a minor in Business Administration. After graduating, she worked in various jobs as a marketing director. In 2005 Karen and her partners founded Prototype Solutions Group where she remained employed until she retired in 2015.

Karen met the love of her life, Robert Falk, and they were married on July 17, 2004 in Menomonie, WI. They lived the relaxed country lifestyle on their beautiful farm. Her passion for flowers were manifested in her lovely beds of perennials. She loved spending time outdoors with dear Lilly the cat and watching all the hummingbirds and wrens. One of her favorite hobbies was to read a good book. She visited the library often and read several books a week, finding peace in curling up with a suspenseful mystery/action book. She cared deeply about the future of this country and did not have any faith in the current administration. She was vigilant about protecting people, animals and the environment from abuse, always concerned about the well-being of others.

Karen is survived by her husband, Robert Falk, sister, Karla Halvorson (Gary Natysin), stepmother, Teresa Halvorson, step-daughters Margaret (Michael) Hafemann, Brenda (Rachel) Falk, grandchildren, Daniel (Emily)Callies, Abigayl and Samuel Raudabaugh, Patrick Hafemann and great-grandchildren, Kailani and Giovanni Raudabaugh-Snead.

There will be a tribute to Karen from 1-3pm on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. Following the tribute, friends and family will be welcome to gather at her favorite hangout, Jake’s Supper Club on Tainter Lake.
