Kenneth Carlson

Kenneth H. Carlson

Kenneth H. Carlson, 95, of Augusta, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2017 at his apartment in Augusta.

Kenneth was born July 11, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of John and Helen (Anderson) Carlson. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School and enlisted in the United States Navy during W.W. II, but due to a heart condition was unable to serve his country. Ken was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Herrick of Augusta, they later divorced. The couple lived for a time in Stanley before Ken was offered a job with 3M in Hastings, Minnesota. During his employment there he made his home in Prescott, WI. After he retired he moved to Eau Claire in 1992, and eventually to Augusta in March of 2016.

Ken was a kind, gentle and independent man who kept to himself, but at the same time enjoyed visiting with family and friends. In his younger years he often visited family in Augusta, Iowa and Pennsylvania. In earlier years he enjoyed this bowling league involvement, golfing and fishing. As his age limited these activities, he did look forward to his day trips with his nephew and running errands and driving throughout the countryside with other family members.

Ken will be dearly missed by his brother and sister-in-law, Gordy and Delores Carlson of Charleroi, PA; local family members, nephew Tom and Pat Anderson of Bloomer; niece Maureen “Rene” Anderson of Augusta; great nephew, Trenton and Tawnee Berg of Augusta and son Asa; other nieces and nephews, Terry Anderson of Wausau, John Weidert of Arkansas, Jim Weidert of Texas, Dennis Carlson of Iowa, Shelia Fear of New Jersey, Karen Pullion and Nancy Lundy both of Pennsylvania and their families.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and spouses, Frances and Ray Anderson, Lorraine and Danny Weidert and Al Wendel; brother John Carlson; nephews, Johnny Carlson and Jeff Weidert; and nephew-in-law Brian Bement.

A visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, where funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be held Friday in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.

The family would like to thank those in Augusta and his neighbors at 423 Colfax Street who showed so much kindness to Ken. A very special appreciation to his golfing friend Don Parkhurst and his wife Jean, your friendship meant so much to him.
