Lois Haines

Lois J. Haines, 85, of La Porte, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Franciscan Health Michigan City.

She was born March 21, 1933, in Eau Claire, WI, to Chester S. and Genevieve M. (Flynn) Johnson.

Lois’ desired profession was to lovingly care for her family and home. She volunteered more than thirty years at La Porte Hospital and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, La Porte. She was a passionate fan of Notre Dame football and a stock owner of the Green Bay Packers. Lois loved her family and was a great supporter of her children and grandchildren throughout her life. She never missed any of their activities or sporting events. Family was always Lois’ first priority. She was the glue that held things together and will be dearly missed.

On August 23, 1952, in Eau Claire, WI, she married Robert T. Haines, who preceded her in death July 21, 1987.

Also preceding in death were her parents; 1 sister, Donna Paape; and 1 brother, Richard “Dick” Johnson.

Surviving are 5 children, Linda (Bill) Wiltfong of La Porte, Mike Haines of La Porte, Tim Haines of Sacramento, CA, Lori (Jim) Dudeck of La Porte and Tony (Susan) Haines of La Porte; 1 sister, Sandi (Peter) Ritter of Eau Claire, WI; cousin and sister figure, Jan Marie Fenner of Chippewa Falls, WI; 8 grandchildren, Tab (Bruce) Kehoe, Tara (Scott) Parsons, Amanda (Bryan) Helminski, Adam (Jen) Dudeck, Chelsey Haines, Robert Haines and Matt and Mark Haines; and ten great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 C Street, La Porte with Rev. Bill O’Toole officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. — 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, La Porte at a later date.
