Loretta Catherine Meyers, 89, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away Saturday, December 01, 2018, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
She was born on March 28, 1929, to the late Frank and Mary (Radle) Poeschel in Rock Falls, WI.
Loretta spent most of her life raising her ten children who brought her great joy. She wanted to continue to work with children so she began working in a daycare and actually was the director of Knollwood Daycare in Eau Claire until she retired in 1991. When she wasn’t working Loretta and her husband Earl spent 40 plus years as permanent campers at O’Neil Creek Campground in Chippewa Falls, WI.
Loretta also had a passion for gardening, fishing, and bird watching. She was a long time member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Over the winter months, Loretta and Earl became snowbirds and traveled down to Florida. All in all Loretta mostly loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her husband Earl Meyers of 71 years; children Linda (Steve) Dettinger, Nancy (Gary) Jungerberg, Jim (Jill) Meyers, Mary (Dave) Ehlert, Barb (Bob) Pederson, Jean (Steve) O’Brien, Sandy (Jim) Gianforte, and Judi (Dan) Turk; sister Anna (George) Reiter; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Poeschel; Brother Leonard Poeschel; Sister Margaret Anklam; and children John Meyers, Patricia Meyers, and Julie (Rick) Blaeser.
Services will be held Friday, December 7, 2018, at 12:30 PM at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire with a visitation starting at 11:30 AM. A luncheon will be served following the service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
