Margaret Jacobson

Margaret Caroline (Norrish) Jacobson, 100, of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Reflections Dove Healthcare — West.

She was born November 25, 1918, in Rock Falls, WI, to Walter and Hazel (Lockin) Norrish. In Rock Falls, WI she attended eight years of school at Rock Falls one room school. She and her siblings drove a horse and buggy to school. She then attended Eau Claire Senior High where she graduated in 1936. In 1937 she married Kermit Jacobson and they lived in the area for several years where she was very active in Rock Creek Lutheran Church and also as a leader in 4H. After moving to Eau Claire she was first employed at Karmel Korn downtown and later began working at Eau Claire Mattress Co. (Happy Sleeper) where she later became office manager.

She continued to be involved in Church-circle and volunteered in the church office. She was a member of Syverson Auxiliary and the Altar guild. She also served on the Board of Officers for the Eau Claire AARP Chapter and was a member of the Women of the Moose, and Moose Singers. She was a charter member of Saving Grace Lutheran Church.

She loved her family and enjoyed playing cards. She played golf well into her 90s and won several tournaments.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Jean (Stan) Brettingen of Eau Claire; grandsons, Jay (Mikki) Brettingen of Eau Claire and Joel (Debbie) Brettingen of Chippewa Falls; great-grandchildren, Erik (Rachel) Brettingen of Eau Claire and Beth Brettingen of Madrid, Spain; sister, Anna Cass; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Norrish and Doris Jacobson; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit; brothers, Frank and Earl Norrish; and sisters, Irene McGinty, Ruth Andress and Jennie Mae Kirk.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 2124 Eastridge Center St, Eau Claire, WI, with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.

The family wishes to thank everyone at Reflections and N.W. Hospice Mayo Clinic for their wonderful and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Saving Grace Lutheran Church.
