Wayne Clifford Schutt, age 88, of Menomonie, WI passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at The Neighbors of Dunn County.
He was born May 23, 1930 in the Town of Sherman, Dunn Co. WI to Gardiner and Doris (Besch) Schutt. Wayne was raised in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1948. He worked as a farmhand before entering the service. Wayne served in the U.S. Army as a field wireman during the Korean War from 1952 to 1957. He attained the rank of Sgt. E-5 and received several awards. He was very proud of his military service.
Wayne worked at several places including, Menomonie Brick Yard, Lange Canning Co., Lentz Fertilizer, the Bean Plant, Century Fence, and retired in 1988 from Brave Harvestore.
Wayne loved outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, rockhounding, metal detecting, cutting firewood and walking. In his younger days he loved riding motorcycle. He also enjoyed traveling “out west” and he was an avid reader.
Wayne is survived by his children, Cheryl (Dean Cotts) Grimme-Salinas of Menomonie, Marlana Risler of Knapp, John Schutt of Knapp, Jeffrey (Jodi) Schutt of Wheeler, Robon (Tina) Schutt of Menomonie, Rachelle Davis of Eau Claire and Lizabeth Schutt of Eau Claire; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister Lois Brooks of Aurora, CO; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving companion Lorraine; stillborn daughter Tina Louise; granddaughter Kelsey Rothamer; brother Roger Schutt; brother-in-law Dennis Brooks and friend Lyle Behling.
There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery in the spring with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.
