Work crews removed old concrete pavement on Tuesday after it had been pulverized on two blocks of Lake Street in downtown Eau Claire. The roadwork began on Monday and is scheduled to finish by the end of August. In the meantime, motorists must use alternate routes to get around downtown and to cross the Chippewa River because the construction project has closed the Lake Street bridge to vehicle traffic.
