Chippewa Valley alumni qualify for nationals
Several alumni from Chippewa Valley high schools qualified for this weekend's NCAA national indoor track and field meets.
In Division I, Eau Claire Memorial graduate Aubrey Roberts qualified in the 5,000-meter race for Northwestern.
In Division II, Altoona's Kristi Springer made it in the women's triple jump for Winona State.
In Division III, UW-Eau Claire's Arik Skifstad (Eau Claire North) and Patrick Treacy (Eau Claire Memorial) are both headed to nationals. Skifstad is part of the 4x400 relay for the Blugolds, while Treacy made it in the mile run.
UW-Stout's Andrew Gilles, a Plum City alumnus, made it in the distance medley relay.
Hannah Roeske, a Memorial grad, qualified in the mile run for Wheaton (Ill.), while Cameron's Josh Koenecke made it in the 200-meter dash for UW-La Crosse.
The Division I meet takes place in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend. Division II is in Pittsburg, Kansas, and Division III is in Boston.
Sectional semifinals relocated
Two boys basketball sectional semifinals involving local teams have been relocated.
The Division 4 game between Osseo-Fairchild and Fall Creek will be played at Altoona on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Also in Division 4, Colfax will square off with Clear Lake at Menomonie on Thursday at 7 p.m.
