Beaulieu named Coach of Year

UW-Stout’s Becky Beaulieu was named the WIAC women’s gymnastics Coach of the Year on Thursday after leading the Blue Devils to their first-ever conference and National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional titles.

Stout went from eighth in 2018 to first this year, becoming the first school in WIAC history to make the last-to-first jump in just one season. The Blue Devils won all five individual events in the conference championship and earned a spot in the upcoming NCGA Championship.

Beaulieu has won the award twice before in 2011 and 2015.

CRBL schedule released

The Chippewa Rivers Baseball League unveiled its schedule for the league’s 91st season on Thursday, with action kicking off on April 27th when the Jim Falls Sturgeons meet the Bloomer Woodticks.

The Eau Claire Rivermen open a day later, while the Eau Claire Bears and Cavaliers start off their campaigns on May 5.

The CRBL All-Star Game will be hosted by Cadott High School on July 7, while wildcard Wednesday is slated for July 31 and championship Saturday is scheduled for Aug. 3.

Locals earn All-American honors

Four local athletes earned All-American honors at the Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships last week: UW-Eau Claire’s Arik Skifstad (Eau Claire North) in the 4x400 relay and Wheaton College’s Hanna Roeske (Eau Claire Memorial) and UW-Eau Claire’s Patrick Treacy in the mile. In Division I, Memorial grad Aubrey Roberts earned her second All-American honor at Northwestern in the 5K.
