Chippewa Falls Post 77 had two chances to get the job done on Monday. But the 17U Legion baseball team only needed one.

Easton Bobb pitched a complete game shutout, giving Chippewa Falls a 7-0 victory over Eau Claire Pizza Hut Post 53 to win a 17U regional in Eau Claire.

Chippewa Falls was unbeaten at the double-elimination regional entering Monday’s championship round and Eau Claire had one loss, meaning Eau Claire would have needed to beat Post 77 twice to advance to state.

Bobb didn’t give them the chance. He held Eau Claire to three hits and struck out 10 to send Chippewa Falls to this weekend’s state tournament in Manitowoc. He walked one.

Post 77 broke things open early, scoring in each of the first three innings to pull ahead. Avery Kaanta and Dawson Goodman paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs each. Kansas Smith added two hits of his own.

Chippewa Falls will face Kaukauna in the opening round of the state tournament at 1 p.m. on Friday.
