Kalien first-team All-WIAC

UW-Eau Claire sophomore guard Tyson Kalien was named to the first-team All-WIAC men’s basketball team, the league announced Tuesday.

Kalien, a Chippewa Falls grad, averaged a team-high 14.7 points per game and shot 44.6 percent from the floor. Teammate Lewis Mau, a Colfax product, was named honorable mention All-WIAC after averaging 9.3 points per game in his senior season. Mau also was one of five players named to the all-defensive team.

UW-Stout’s Jarvis Ragland also was an honorable mention.

Express add three players

The Eau Claire Express announced the signing of Grayson County College catcher Tanner DeVinny and pitchers Hayden Krimmer of Winona State and Brody Rodning of Minnesota State-Mankato to the 2015 roster on Tuesday.

DeVinny, a sophomore transfer from Kansas State, batted .257 and had 31 RBIs for the Wildcats as a freshman. Krimmer is a righty out of Oak Park, and has a 0.90 ERA in two starts for the Warriors with five strikeouts. Rodning is a freshman at Minnesota State-Manksato, but was named to the Minnesota all-state teams with a 0.74 ERA as a senior in high school.

Buyze chosen for certification

Eau Claire’s Jim Buyze was named one of 33 PGA professionals chosen to achieve advanced certification through the PGA Certified Professional Program 2.0, the PGA announced Monday.

Buryze is the player development pro at Mill Run Golf Course.
