Nate Mattoon won Group B and Ben Loomis tied in Group A but gave way to Casey Larson on an earlier ride in the elimination jump of the National Junior Nordic Ski championships Saturday at Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Mattoon won with a final jump of 73 meters (240 feet) while Loomis and Larson each sailed 76 meters (249 feet) in the final round but Larson, of Chicago, got the win on a longer jump in the second round of the elimination event.

The Flying Eagles gained two podiums in Friday’s Nordic Combined team sprint. Andrew Urlaub teamed with Aidan Ripp to take third in the under-16 while Loomis and Luke Tschida also took third in the U-18 class.
